A Brief Introduction of Rubber Gaskets

2020.03.30 Rubber gaskets are laminated rubber products that act as seals between two static surfaces of metal flanges or other connecting parts. They are collectively referred to rubber gaskets. It can be made by molding or vulcanized. It can be widely used in various mechanical equipment, such as padding, sealing, buffering and so on.

In form, the commonly used rubber gaskets include rubber flat gasket, rubber O shape gasket, plastic flat gasket, polytetrafluoroethylene gasket, asbestos rubber gasket, metal flat gasket, metal shaped gasket, metal wrapping gasket, wave gasket, winding gasket, etc. 

1. Rubber flat gasket: easy to deform, compacting is effortless, but withstanding pressure and temperature resistance is poor. It is only used for low pressure and low temperature. Natural rubber has a certain acid and alkali resistance, the use temperature should not exceed 60℃, chloroprene rubber can also withstand certain acid base, the use temperature is 80℃, NBR has oil resistance and can be used to 80℃; fluoro rubber corrosion resistance is very good, temperature resistance is also stronger than the general rubber, it can be used in the medium of 150℃.

2. Rubber sealing gasket: the section shape is round, and has a certain self-tightening effect, the sealing effect is better than the flat gasket, and the compressing force is smaller.

For the material aspect, the main products of rubber gaskets are silicone rubber gasket, nitrile rubber gasket, fluorine rubber gasket and other rubber gaskets. Rubber gasket has the properties of oil resistance, acid and alkali resistance, cold resistance, heat resistance and aging resistance. It can be directly cut into all kinds of sealed gaskets. The automotive rubber gaskets is widely used in pharmaceutical, electronic, chemical, antistatic, flame retardant, food and other industries.
